About
Platform and Club Purpose
Plyrs is a polo club established within an evolving Real Estate project, born from the need for a common place for the development of polo in Wellington and across the United States. Plyrs aims to be a platform for the unity and growth of the sport. The club is designed to generate freedom and competition. It is for all those who wish to find a place where the mind can wander, disconnected from the everyday.

The Context: A Shared Home and Anchor
Plyrs is everyone's home, a place where players can host their guests. The rest naturally followed from the necessity of having a common space to jointly develop a platform that would allow each player to project themselves over time. The purchase of the National Polo Center by the United States Polo Association (USPA) clarified the location where polo would ultimately be anchored in the US.
The Convocation of Leading Figures
Plyrs began to take shape through discussions with several prominent figures in the sport. Juan Sánchez ElĂa initially brought Miguel Novillo Astrada, Mariano Aguerre, and Nick Manifold into the project. In 2023, a team was formed to participate in the Gauntlet Polo, featuring Will Johnston, Miguel Novillo Astrada, Mariano Aguerre, and Juan Sánchez ElĂa, which led to a deeper bond between Mariano, Nick, and Miguel. Later, after consulting Oscar Merlotti, the possibility arose to involve Hilario Ulloa, known for his great drive, as demonstrated on the field. The next to join the project was Juan MartĂn Nero, with strong family support. Following the incorporation of Pablo Mac Donough and Facundo Pieres, a meeting took place with Gonzalo Pieres during a trip to Argentina, where the idea of creating the best polo club in the world was expressed. Gonzalo Pieres also decided to support the project alongside his sons, Gonzalo and Nicolás. Finally, seeking balance, it was decided to invite Alejandro Poma.

Game Philosophy: Generosity and Achievement
This is a club for all levels. But, especially, for people who want to have fun. The key to this sport lies in the generosity of moving the ball. The more generous one is within the team, the greater the achievements. The ball moves faster when it is being passed. In an interview, when asked about his favorite goal, Miguel Novillo Astrada highlighted one where he did not touch the ball, but was part of the entire play and in which all his brothers contributed to the result.
